McKinlay - Davis Consultant ltd. work alongside and collaborates with some of the best professionals in their respective fields.

Our core business is the examination and identification of vehicles, suspect vehicles and their component parts to determine their true origins. This ensures that insurance companies, buyers and finance houses funding vehicles do not pay out or purchase assets that are not what they claim to be.

During our examinations, we may identify additional concerns. While we have training in some of these areas, we will always advise you, as the client, to seek further guidance from one of our trusted associates who specialise in that specific field.

Although not part of our consultancy, our associates offer services that complement our work. These are the professionals we would engage with ourselves, as they are experts in their respective fields.

Vehicle Fire Investigation

McKinlay Davis Consultants ltd staff have undergone Vehicle Fire Investigation (VFI) training with Parklodge International under Richard Baker and latterly with Firewise (UK) Learning Academy under Martin Lown BEM.

We now form part of the directing staff at the Firewise (UK) VFI training courses held in Ireland, as well as their Electric Vehicle Fire Investigation (EVFI) Course held in Norway instructing on Vehicle Identification.

While we do not take instruction for VFI - we are frequently asked to examine burnt out vehicles to establish their identity,

During these examinations we may identify signs suggesting that a fire was deliberately set to prevent identification, rather than occurring accidentally. In these circumstances we will recommend contact with Richard or Martin for further expertise.

Electric Vehicle Fire Investigation

As part of our VFI training and with the increasing development of Electric Vehicles, through Parklodge International and the Firewise (UK) Learning Academy part of the directing staff that we work alongside are Rotae VFI specialists on not only standard VFI but Electric vehicle fire investigation led by Steve Elliott CAE. AMIMI, MIAAI, MIAATI, IAAI FIT (V).

Unlike a traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, when we are instructed to carry out a Vehicle examination and identification on an accident damaged or burnt out Electric Vehicle (EV), we have to adopt significantly different exam procedures due to safety risks.

As a result, we may have need to engage with Rotae to make the vehicle safe from stranded energy before we proceed.

As with standard VFI if there is suspected a need for an EVFI exam would would recommend contact with Steve.

Vehicle Systems Forensics

Modern vehicles hold a vast amount of data, and many criminals are bypassing vehicle security protocols through various electronic methods.

McKinlay Davis Consultants ltd have the equipment to extract much of this data depending on the make and model of the vehicle.

However when additional expertise is required, we collaborate with our vehicle systems forensics colleagues.

We have established contacts with Noel Lowdon at Harper Shaw Investigation Consultants Limited and with VSF Inspections and Andrew Guest, ensuring access to specialist support when needed.

If we suspect there is a requirement for an in depth VSF exam we would recommend contact with Noel or Andy.
